West Wind Gymnastics Club has teamed up with Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity to offer a new program
for those girls ages 6-12 who have immigrated to Canada within the past 5 years.
“The athletes will learn the basic gymnastics skills and move on to more challenging skills over the summer” reports Diane Herrick, Executive Director. “There were only 10 projects
Selected across Canada to offer a program such as this and we were very fortunate to be chosen.”
The classes will run from once a week from 10:30 to 11:25 Wednesdays or Thursdays starting July 11 running to the end of August. Athletes will pay $50 for the class plus $39 for insurance. The regular class price of $121.50 is being subsidized by the grant. You may qualify for Jumpstart, Kidsport, or the City of Lethbridge subsidies for this program as well but you will need to apply early.
“We have resources to hire a translator if needed for this unique class” Herrick continues. To register, people can call the club or stop by the office at 1014 – 3 Ave North. You can not register on line for this particular class.
This is one of many classes offered over the summer. West Wind Gymnastics Club also offers regular Parent and Tot, Kindergym and CANGYM classes for ages 18 months to 18 years plus our full or half day camps. Fall registrations will begin in early July. For more information on any of their programs call the club at 403-320-1373.
