The Southern Alberta Players Basketball League (SAPBL) will start its “Summer Heat Battle” this
coming Sunday, June 3, 2018, 6:30 PM at Fritz Sick Gym (LSCO). SAPBL was conceptualized
when the Filipino League (FCALA) pull the plug in their Winter League last November 27, 2017,
without finishing it.
Players of the previous League, who are basketball-loving residents of Lethbridge and
surrounding areas, organized the SAPBL to provide a setting where minority residents of our
community can display their skills in playing this sport. In so doing, they intend to cultivate the
values of sportsmanship, camaraderie, responsibility, respect, discipline and inclusion in our
community. Last April 29, 2018, SAPBL players approved unanimously their Norms &
Six teams will be competing this season, they are Sunrise, Forex, Temple, Picture Butte, Pincher
Creek, and Itidy Raptors. SAPBL basketball games are open to everyone for free, which will run
every Sundays in June (6:30PM), July (3:00PM), and September (3PM). All of their games will be
held at Fritz Sick Gym, 420 11 Street South, Lethbridge, AB.
