Where Are They Now? Kent Aitchison
This update is part of a series called 'Where Are They Now' following up on past Lethbridge Sport Council Achievement Award recipients
Kent won Coaching Excellence in 2012 at the Lethbridge Sport Council Achievement Awards for his outstanding coaching performances and dedication with swimming. Currently Kent is the assistant head coach with Kamloops Classic Swimming and is the owner/operator/coach with Tournament Capital Strength (TCSC).
Kent & his wife Carlee moved to Kamloops in September 2017 after he was offered the position with Kamloops Classic Swimming. Kent does miss Lethbridge and will always consider it home! He returns to Southern Alberta every summer to run his "Summit Swim Camps". He feels it has been a great way to stay connected with coaches and swimmers in the Lethbridge Orcas Summer Swim Club!
Kent along with head coach Brad Dalke are working hard to continue to build a successful swimming organization and make an impact in Kamloops. They feel that their program is on the verge of something special and they are quite excited to pick up where they left off before the pandemic shook things up. This persistence speaks to Kent's favourite quote by Rocky Balboa:
"It ain't about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep movin' forward".
Kent has two favourite coaching memories and the first is unexpectedly winning the Large Team Title at the 2010 ASSA Provincial Championships. The second is being nominated by the Lethbridge Orcas for the Lethbridge Sport Council Coaching Excellence in 2012, he still occasionally reads the nice words that were written about him for motivation.
