Free opportunity: Team Handball is coming to Lethbridge
Sent in partnership with Alberta Team Handball
After being approached by teachers in Lethbridge who expressed their desire to start a team handball club, and thanks to a grant from the 2020 Lethbridge Alberta Summer Games Legacy Fund, we are thrilled to announce that Alberta Team Handball is coming to Lethbridge!
Join us on August 26th for a FREE day of learning and fun with Alberta Team Handball! Are you a teacher or coach who wants to dive deeper into the world of handball? Look no further! We are thrilled to offer you a comprehensive 1-day workshop that will take your knowledge and skills to the next level.
This action-packed workshop consists of four dynamic sessions, each building upon the previous one. Let's take a closer look at what's in store for you:
Starting at 8:00 AM, we kick off with our Mini Handball coaching course. In this session, you'll discover the fundamentals of coaching mini handball, a modified version of the game suitable for younger players. Learn the strategies and techniques that will engage and inspire your budding handball stars.
From 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, get ready for our Level 1 coaching course. Here, we dive deeper into the intricacies of handball coaching, equipping you with the knowledge and skills necessary to guide and develop players of all ages. Gain valuable insights into training methods, team dynamics, and tactical strategies that will take your coaching prowess to new heights.
Now, it's time to refuel! From 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, we'll provide you with a delicious lunch, courtesy of ATHF. Recharge your energy and mingle with fellow participants as you prepare for the afternoon sessions.
At 1:00 PM, we jump into the Level 1 Officiating Course. Discover the role of the referee in handball and learn the rules and regulations that govern the game. Enhance your understanding of fair play, decision-making, and maintaining the integrity of the sport. Whether you're an aspiring official or a coach looking to expand your knowledge, this session is not to be missed.
Finally, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, we conclude the day with an exciting "Give it a Try" session and scrimmage that is open to all school-age children and youth. This is the perfect opportunity for you to not only put your newly acquired skills to the test but also to introduce the thrilling sport of handball to beginners. Join us in spreading the love for handball and igniting a passion for the game in aspiring young athletes. Let's create unforgettable moments and inspire the next generation of handball superstars!
