August Sport Event Preview

Lethbridge is home to an incredible range of sporting events, from grassroots competitions to national-level matchups. Local sport groups play a key role in showcasing our community’s passion, talent, and strong sporting spirit. Each month, we highlight some sport events you'll want to check out.

Here’s your guide to the must-watch sport events in Lethbridge this August:

Lethbridge Bulls: August 1st - August 5th. The regular season is winding down, so don't miss your last chance to watch the Bulls at Spitz Stadium before playoffs! The Sylvan Lake Gulls visit on August 1st (6:00pm) and  August 2nd (2:00pm), followed by the Medicine Hat Mavericks on August 3rd (5:00pm) and the Brooks Bombers on August 5th (6:30pm). Stay tuned for the playoff schedule!

The Quest for the Cup 2026: August 7th - August 9th.  The annual 3-on-3 hockey tournament is taking place at the Cavendish Farms Ice Arenas. Hosted by High Performance Hockey, this year is the 15th time this event has taken place in Lethbridge. Coed teams from U9 through to U18 will play in this mid-summer classic. FREE admission for all spectators.

Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo:  August 20th - August 22nd. With over 125 years of history, this iconic rodeo features Bull Riding, Breakaway, Team Roping, Ladies Barrel Racing, thrilling Relay Races, and much more to keep you entertained. Held at the Lethbridge & District Exhibition Grandstand as part of the Whoop-Up Days celebrations.

Pure Power Wrestling: August 22nd. The Hot Summer Nights event takes place at the Lethbridge & District Exhibition, during Whoop-Up Days. If you have a Whoop-Up Days park admission ticket, you will get into the event for free.

National Amateur Disc Golf Tour Qualifier: August 22nd.  Two rounds of Aperture Park disc golf course with the winners earning a space at the National Championships in Austin, TX in late October 2026. FREE admission for all spectators.

Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks Soccer: August 29th - 30th.  Kick off the home season with a full weekend of soccer! Saturday's matchups feature the Ambrose Lions, while Sunday's games welcome the Medicine Hat Rattlers. The women play at 12:00pm, followed by the men at 2:15pm on both days.
