July Sport Event Preview
Lethbridge is home to an incredible range of sporting events, from grassroots competitions to national-level matchups. Local sport groups play a key role in showcasing our community’s passion, talent, and strong sporting spirit. Each month, we highlight some sport events you'll want to check out.
Here’s your guide to the must-watch sport events in Lethbridge this July:
TKDI World Cup - July 4th - 5th. The Tae Kwon-Do International World Cup will see over 500 athletes from all over the globe competing at the Lethbridge Trade & Convention Centre. With five weight categories in the black belt category, over 10 belt categories, and both male and female divisions, there promises to be a lot of action. Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for kids for the two days. A family pass for the two days is $60.
BMX provincial - Rounds 3 and 4 July 18th - 19th. The third and fourth rounds of the Alberta BMX Provincials come to Lethbridge as over 500 riders try to qualify for the finals in September. With races for novice to elite, male and female, and for all ages, this promises to be an action-packed event. Free admission for all spectators.
Lethbridge Little League Baseball Association is hosting two 11U/12U events. The action takes place at Dave Elton Park, and admission is free for all spectators at both events.
Major AAA Tournament - July 10th – 12th. This preparation event for the upcoming Divisional Championships will see top teams from Southern Alberta and Saskatchewan battle it out in an action-packed weekend of baseball.
Little League Alberta Divisional Championship - July 21st – 26th. The teams will be trying to secure a space at the Canadian Little League Championship in Glace Bay from August 3 to 13. Come out to the park, enjoy the games, and cheer on the Lethbridge boys as they fight for a spot on the national stage.
Southern Alberta Lawn Bowls Development Tournament - July 25th. Local bowlers will be joined by teams from out-of-town for the one-day event that starts at 9:00 am. Free admission for spectators.
Other Events to check out:
- Baseball is in full swing this July. The Bulls are playing at Spitz Stadium twice on July 1st, at 1:30 pm and 7:30 pm. The Bulls are playing at the Spitz Stadium eleven times this month, and the American Legion teams are in action at the Spitz and the Lloyd Nolan Yard with seven matches scheduled.
American Legion State AA Tournament - July 25th - 29th. The top seven teams in the AA division will join the Elks to see who goes to the Northwest Region 7 Tournament in August.
