October Sport Event Preview
Lethbridge is home to an incredible range of sporting events, from grassroots competitions to national-level matchups. Local sport groups play a key role in showcasing our community’s passion, talent, and strong sporting spirit. Each month, we highlight some sport events you'll want to check out.
Here’s your guide to the must-watch sport events in Lethbridge this October:
Rumble in the Cage 72: October 3rd. Canada’s longest-running MMA promotion comes to the Servus Sports Centre, with 14 athletes from Southern Alberta competing, including 10 from Lethbridge. The event will feature MMA, bare-knuckle boxing, and super-boxing.
The Friesen Plastics LASC Fall Challenge: October 23rd–25th. More than 250 athletes are expected at the Max Bell Aquatic Centre for this short-course swimming competition. Races take place over a 25-metre course, where frequent turns help create fast-paced racing throughout the event.
Bridge Bolt Speed Skating Competition: October 24th. First held in 2005, this early-season competition gives young athletes an opportunity to get back into competition mode. More than 100 racers from clubs across western and northern Canada are expected at the Cavendish Farms Centre, with free admission for spectators.
Pronghorn Home Schedule: There’s plenty of University of Lethbridge action throughout October! Women’s rugby plays at home on October 1st and 10th. Men’s soccer takes the field on the 10th, 16th, and 18th, while women’s soccer plays at home on the 24th and 25th. Basketball returns to home court on October 30th and 31st.
Kodiak Home Schedule: Lethbridge Polytechnic’s soccer teams play their final home games of the season on October 4th. The basketball teams are in action on the 17th, 23rd, and 24th, while volleyball takes to the home court on October 18th.
Lethbridge Hurricanes Home Schedule: Celebrating their 40th season in Lethbridge during the 2026–27 WHL season, the Hurricanes have five home games throughout October. Catch them in action on October 2nd, 3rd, 14th, 17th, and 23rd.
