2026 Sport Information Exchange and Annual General Meeting Highlights
Tuesday, March 24
The Lethbridge Sport Council hosted a Sport Information Exchange and Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, March 24, bringing together sport leaders, partners, and community members to share updates, celebrate progress, and look ahead to the continued growth of sport in our community.
The Sport Information Exchange featured a dynamic “Citius Vocem” — fast talking — format, where presenters delivered concise four-minute updates highlighting current initiatives, emerging ideas, and collaborative opportunities across the local sport system. The format created energy in the room, sparked conversation, and reinforced the value of sharing information quickly and clearly to support coordinated action across organizations.
Topics presented during the Sport Information Exchange included:
Bidding and Hosting Asset Library
Creating Welcoming Pathways through Sport for All
Community Comes First in Adult Sport
Lethbridge Sport Bank: Keeping Kids (and Adults) in the Game
Volunteers: How to Recruit Them, How to Recognize Them
Sport Development: Building the People Behind Sport
Member Support: A New Policy Template for Members
The Southern Alberta Summer Games: Grassroots. Generational.
During the Annual General Meeting, the Lethbridge Sport Council formally thanked departing Board member, Keegan Brantner who served from 2024–2026, for her leadership, commitment, and contributions to community sport. We expressed our appreciation and wished her well in her continued involvement and leadership in sport locally and nationally.
We were also pleased to welcome Tom Denness to the Board of Directors. Tom is a graduate of the University of Lethbridge, where he earned a degree in Kinesiology and Education while competing with the Pronghorns men’s soccer team and serving as team captain in his final year. A four-time Academic All-Canadian and recipient of multiple community service awards, Tom currently teaches Physical Education at Napi’s Playground Elementary School in Brocket and serves as an assistant coach with the University of Lethbridge men’s soccer program. He brings a strong commitment to youth development and a deep belief in the role sport plays in building leadership, teamwork, resilience, and lifelong skills.
The membership also re-elected Myles Fletcher, Tyson Kwasney, Mike Medhurst, and Chad Chief Moon to serve an additional term on the Board of Directors, ensuring continuity and experience as the organization continues to evolve.
Members received and approved the 2025 Financial Statements and were introduced to the 2025 Annual Report, which is available on our website. The report is not simply a marketing document; it is a comprehensive account and celebration of the work achieved through collaboration with community partners and sport organizations.
The report highlights four key areas of impact that guide our work:
Supporting families to get involved in sport
Supporting people who make sport happen
Bringing people and partners together
Supporting sport tourism
These impact areas, featured on page 5 of the Annual Report, reflect the practical ways the Lethbridge Sport Council connects, supports, and strengthens sport across our community.
Together, the Sport Information Exchange and Annual General Meeting provided an opportunity to share knowledge, recognize leadership, and reaffirm our shared commitment to building a welcoming, connected, and thriving sport community in Lethbridge.
