FEBRUARY SPORT EVENT PREVIEW
Lethbridge is home to an incredible range of sporting events, from grassroots competitions to national-level matchups. Local sport groups play a key role in showcasing our community’s passion, talent, and strong sporting spirit. Each month, we highlight some sport events you'll want to check out. Here’s what’s happening in Lethbridge this February:
Lethbridge Lightning Home Game - February 7th.
The final home game of the regular season for The Lethbridge Lightning takes place at the Nicholas Sheran Ice Arena, puck drop is at 7:30 pm. The Lightning were the 2024/25 Ranchland Hockey League champions, and they hope to capture the Senior AA title once more. The visitors will be the Fort Macleod Mustangs, and the puck drops at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. Free admission for kids under 10. A moment of silence for will be observed for the Mustangs organization and the 3 players they lost in a tragic accident earlier this week.
Kodiak teams in action - February 13th and 14th.
Valentine’s weekend will feature a full slate of Kodiak basketball and volleyball action at the Val Matteotti Gymnasium. On Friday evening, the Kodiak basketball teams host the Medicine Hat Rattlers, with the women tipping off at 6:00 pm, followed by the men at 8:00 pm. The rivalry continues on Saturday as the Kodiak volleyball teams take on the Rattlers, with the women’s match beginning at 6:00 pm and the men’s match at 8:00 pm.
Alberta Artistic Swimming Championships - Rocky Mountain Qualifier - February 20th - 22nd
With many local Lethbridge Synchrobelles competing at the Max Bell Aquatic Centre, the championship promises an exciting showcase of skill, precision, and artistry. Follow this LINK to learn more about artistic swimming and the Lethbridge Synchrobelles. Spectators are welcome, and entry is free.
2026 Star Series #4 - February 20th - 22nd.
The Skate AB | NT | NU Figure Skating Star Series event will take place at the CFC Ice Arena, welcoming more than 200 skaters over the weekend. Featuring both male and female competitors, the event promises an exciting showcase of talent and skill. First held in 1994 as the Chinook Open Invitational, the competition continues to honour a long-standing tradition proudly upheld by the Lethbridge Skating Club. Spectators get free entry.
ACAC Indoor Track Grand Prix - February 28th.
Lethbridge Polytechnic will host the final ACAC Grand Prix of the season at the University of Lethbridge Indoor Track. As the third Grand Prix on the calendar, the meet will be a key opportunity for athletes to compete for the final qualifying spots at the ACAC Indoor Track Championships, scheduled for the following weekend in Edmonton.
