The idea for this book came about when Gordan Hunter read the Lethbridge Sport Council article Where are they now? in the Lethbridge Herald. Having published several books himself, Gordan saw the potential for a great book and approached Susan Eymann at the Lethbridge Sport Council. Jordan Calladine's first-hand experience at the 2012 Games, her passion for sport, and the fact that she was still connected with many of her fellow 2012 Games athletes made her the perfect author for this book.

For the Love of Sport is a unique glimpse into the psyche of athletes as they share their memories of the 2012 Lethbridge Alberta Summer Games. With each chapter, it becomes clearer that the Games are about so much more than sport competition. It is moving to hear how impactful and life-changing these Games were to these young athletes. The stories weave you through fond memories of pushing through comfort zones and making lifelong friendships.
We recommend this compilation of stories for elected officials and sport administrators, coaches and teachers, parents, and athletes as a reminder of the tremendous impact of the Alberta Games. Since 1974, the Alberta Games have played an integral role in developing our youth into valued citizens.
A portion of the proceeds from this book will be donated to KidSport Lethbridge & Taber Chapter.
