The Creator's Game - 2 Days, 3 Great Events
The Creator's Game - 2 Days, 3 Great Events is hosted by the Lethbridge Sport Council as part of the Pathway to Participation initiative funded by the Physical Activity and Recreation Division of the Government of Alberta, in partnership with many other organizations. It includes a 2-day lacrosse skills camp with pro player Jeff Shattler, the Aboriginal Sport Circle/ NCCP Aboriginal Coaching Module, and an evening presentation by Jeff Shattler 'The Cultural Significance of the Creator's Game (lacrosse).
LACROSSE CAMP WITH JEFF SHATTLER
The Lacrosse Skills Camp will be a 2-day event featuring pro lacrosse player, Jeff Shattler. Jeff Shattler is a professional box lacrosse player who currently plays with the Saskatchewan Rush of the National Lacrosse League. In addition, the camp will feature fitness testing and mental performance training presented by Alberta Sport Development Centre South West, and time with Mary Ellen Little Mustache from Piikani Traditional Games to learn about the games played to improve on physical literacy skills that helped people survive on the land. The camp is free to attend, and is open to all skill levels and ethnicities of youth.
ABORIGINAL COACHING MODULE (ACM)
Aboriginal Coaching Module (ACM) is a professional development training tool for Indigenous and non-Indigenous coaches who coach Indigenous athletes, as they become certified through the NCCP. It is comprised of three modules, a Holistic approach to coaching, dealing with racism in sport, and Individual and community health and wellness.

WHERE: Servus Sports Centre
COST: The Lethbridge Sport Council and the Indigenous Sport Council of Alberta is offering this course free of charge to participants.

THE CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CREATOR'S GAME (Lacrosse)
Join Lethbridge Sport Council and Alberta Sport Development Centre South West for an open community event from 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM on Wednesday, August 4th, to learn about the cultural significance of lacrosse. Lacrosse is traditionally taught as the Creator's Game, a game for healing, traditionally thought of as medicine by players both physically and mentally. Join us for a 1-hour talk to explore the significance of the Creator’s Game for Indigenous peoples and players hosted by pro lacrosse player Jeff Shattler.
Participants in the skills camp will be automatically registered, but parents, coaches, and the general public is invited to join as well.
This camp is co-hosted by Lethbridge Sport Council and Alberta Sport Development Centre South West.
