Meaning behind the shirt explained by artist;
The art has a basis in the Blackfoot story of the Pleiades, who were once neglected children, placed in the sky by the creator, as a warning, for parents to better care for their own children. There are only 5 star children, indicating that there are more children to be collected, as there are so many people suffering today.The child being pulled from the adult is a manifestation of the love and innocence that is often suppressed. Grief, hate and suffering takes over our current lives and we poison our own children by teaching them to suffer.But the child has hope, as he is surrounded by other children who have known his pain and have learned that it’s okay to love one another. They stand together not just Blackfoot, but Metis and Cree. As indigenous people, we can learn to care for one another and be stronger together.
