September Sport Event Preview
Lethbridge is home to an incredible range of sporting events, from grassroots competitions to national-level matchups. Local sport groups play a key role in showcasing our community’s passion, talent, and strong sporting spirit. Each month, we highlight some sport events you'll want to check out.
Here’s your guide to the must-watch sport events in Lethbridge this September:
Lethbridge Hurricanes: September 1st, 10th, 18th & 25th. The Hurricanes are celebrating their 40th season in Lethbridge! Catch pre-season action against the Medicine Hat Tigers on September 1st and Red Deer Rebels on September 10th. Regular season home action follows on September 18th and 25th against the same two teams.
The Lost Soul Ultra: September 11th. First held in 1999, this annual event brings top trail runners to Lethbridge for 50-kilometre, 100-kilometre and 100-mile races through the trails of the Oldman River valley. Each 50-kilometre loop features 1,200 metres of elevation gain and loss, making for a serious test of endurance. The event is also a qualifying race for the Western States 100-mile race.
Pure Power Wrestling: September 19th. Bridge City Brawl 5 takes over the VisitLethbridge.com Arena, featuring a main event with two rings surrounded by a steel cage known as War Games.
Pronghorn Triple Header: September 19th. Get ready for a full day of Pronghorn action at Community Stadium! Women’s soccer kicks things off against the Manitoba Bisons at 2:00pm, followed by men’s soccer against the University of Alberta Bears at 4:00pm. Women’s rugby closes out the day against the University of Alberta Pandas at 7:00pm. Admission is FREE for spectators all day.
Run For The Pumpkin – 39th Edition: September 26th. Head to Nicholas Sheran Park for this community running event hosted by the Kodiaks Cross Country Running and Indoor Track Team. Participants can take on the 2K or 4K run, with all finishers receiving a pumpkin!
More Pronghorn & Kodiak Action: There’s even more university and college soccer happening throughout September! The Pronghorn women’s soccer team is home September 5th, 6th and 20th, while the men play at home September 20th, 25th and 27th. Kodiaks women’s soccer hosts games September 12th, 19th and 20th, with the men at home September 19th and 20th.
