Southern Alberta Summer Games - Team Lethbridge 2019
Lethbridge, Alberta – Residents of Lethbridge are encouraged to register for the Southern Alberta Summer Games (SASG) to participate in a four-day celebration of sport and community! This year the SASG will be hosted by the Town Pincher Creek from July 3rd-6th. The SASG offers over 25 competitive events for all ages and skill levels. Events range from beach volleyball to quilting, cribbage to an obstacle course race, archery to pickle ball, and many more. All ages and levels are needed to represent the City of Lethbridge at the Games.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Southern Alberta Summer Games, where Pincher Creek was inaugural host back in 1970! The SASG is an inclusive family-orientated grassroots sporting event, emphasizing physical and social involvement for everyone. Whether competing in a sport for the first time, or as a seasoned athlete, Team Lethbridge wants you. In addition to the athletic events, there will also be a variety of other cultural events for the public and participants to enjoy. This includes the Opening Ceremonies on July 3rd, the photography display, and closing ceremonies on July 6th.
An estimated 2,500 athletes and their families from areas across Southern Alberta will be visiting Pincher Creek for the Games, representing a total of 13 regions stretching from Medicine Hat to the Crowsnest Pass. Team Lethbridge will hopefully use their momentum from hosting the games back in 2016 and two strong second overall finish in 2017 and 2018 to bring 500+ participants to the 2019 games.
The registration fee for local athletes will be $35, allowing athletes to participate in up to three different sports and/or activities. The fee also includes a competitor T-shirt. Deadline for registration is June 11th at 5 pm. To register for the 2019 SASG, fill out the online registration form at https://lethbridgesportcouncil.ca/sasg or contact Jordan Calladine at [email protected] or 403-320-9371.
