Thinking Of Submitting A Lethbridge Sport Council Achievement Award Nomination?
Not Sure How To Make Your Nomination Stand Out? We Can Help
To make your nomination stand out, it’s essential to showcase what makes your event or nominee exceptional. Don’t just say they’re outstanding—prove it with clear evidence and compelling examples.
Tips for a Great Nomination
Focus on the Criteria - Use specific examples to demonstrate how your event or nominee meets the eligibility and award criteria. Be sure to address each question thoughtfully, as each response contributes to the evaluation.
Keep It Clear and Concise - Longer isn’t always better. Write clear, to-the-point explanations, ensuring the selection committee has all the information they need without unnecessary detail. Bullet points are welcome.
Offer Multiple Perspectives - Illustrate your event or nominee’s impact by including quotes or testimonials from others. Comments from participants, volunteers, or attendees can help paint a well-rounded and compelling picture.
Use Data and Metrics - Whenever possible, use data to strengthen your nomination:
Athletic Performance: Include competition results, field depth, and relevant statistics.
Events: Highlight economic impact, volunteer involvement, or contributions to sport development.
Community Impact: Share measurable outcomes, such as increased participation or new initiatives inspired by the event or nominee.
Include the nominees character - You’ll see on page 9 of the nomination guidelines that “respect of the game, a love of sport, respect for others, a commitment to fair play and ethical sport” is important.
Using AI to Help Craft Your Nomination
If you’re considering using AI tools to help write or refine your nomination, here are some tips to make the most of this resource:
Start with Strong Input: AI tools work best when you provide clear, detailed prompts. For example, list key accomplishments, metrics, or qualities about your nominee that you want highlighted. You can also provide the award criteria so the AI tool can use it as a guide.
Fact-Check Everything: While AI can assist with structure and language, always verify that the information it generates is accurate and relevant to your nomination.
Add a Personal Touch: AI can help draft text, but don’t lose sight of the personal connection. Use your own voice to add anecdotes, testimonials, or specific details that make your nomination unique.
Stay Specific: Avoid generic language. Highlight unique qualities about your nominee or event, and ensure AI-generated content addresses the specific award criteria.
Be Ethical: AI should complement your work, not do it all for you. The best nominations come from your genuine knowledge and passion for the nominee.
Avoid Overused Phrases: Phrases like "unwavering dedication" or "tireless commitment" can sound generic and overused, especially when repeated across multiple nominations. While AI might suggest these terms, it’s better to focus on specific examples and authentic language that truly reflect your nominee’s unique qualities. For example, instead of saying someone has "unwavering dedication," explain how they went above and beyond to support their team or event in a specific way.
Using AI can save time and streamline your nomination, but remember—it’s your insight, knowledge, and care that make a nomination truly stand out!
