YMCA of Lethbridge Partners with Lethbridge Sport Council to Honour the Contributions of Founding Member, Carol Thibert.

The YMCA of Lethbridge and the Lethbridge Sport Council have dedicated the Cor Van Raay YMCA’s new indoor bike racks to Carol Thibert. Carol’s contributions to the development and promotion of sport in Lethbridge as an athlete, coach, administrator, volunteer, and supporter have been immense.

"Few individuals have done more for sport, recreation and culture in our community than Carol Thibert. She was a founding member of the Lethbridge Sports Bid Committee and the Lethbridge Sport Council. Through Carol's professional and volunteer commitments and exceptional leadership, thousands of individuals and groups have benefitted. Carol has always been a fierce advocate for sport and active recreation, and role models that lifestyle herself." said Erin Low, Chair of the Lethbridge Sport Council.

The Lethbridge Sports Bid Committee in 1998, which evolved into the Lethbridge Sport Council in 2008. While at the City of Lethbridge she served as liaison for the Lethbridge Sport Council and was an energetic and fierce advocate for sport and active recreation.

“Like Carol, the YMCA of Lethbridge strives to create opportunities for our community to stay active. We are thrilled that we were able to partner with Lethbridge Sport Council to bring these bike racks to our building for people to utilize,” said JoAnna Jones, Director of Operations YMCA of Lethbridge.

“Our hope is that these bike racks encourage active transportation to and from the Cor Van Raay YMCA,” added Jones.

The bike racks are located inside the south lobby at the Cor Van Raay YMCA and will be available year-round.
