#YQLdads - Meet Kelly, dad of Talayna
To help the Family Centre in Lethbridge celebrate #YQLDads, we will be sharing stories all week about some awesome Ringette dads in Lethbridge! Today's post is about Talayna and her dad Kelly.
Talayna is now in her second season of ringette and is training to become a goaltender. When we met Kelly, he told us that his nickname was 'Koala Bear' and over the past year and a half, we have come to know just why. Kelly always makes himself available to help whenever he can. He leads convoys of parents to obscure places like Rolling Hills and Hussar, often knowing better ways to get there given his experience working with Alberta Search and Rescue. Kelly is usually seen working the time-box and has occasionally also done commentary for games if he can find a microphone! He, without fail, brings an enormous blue cooler filled with drinks and snacks for the girls on game day, as they often play two games back-to-back. All of these things coupled with his caring nature, make him a truly generous volunteer and a spirited supporter of Lethbridge Ringette.
