2nd Annual Champ Chat was a BLAST!
The 2nd Annual Fast and Female Champ Chat in Lethbridge took place the afternoon of June 21st at the Lethbridge College.
We were very happy to have 90 girls in attendance for the afternoon, their ages ranged from 8-14 years old. These girls were accompanied and lead by 9 inspiring, empowering and diverse ambassadors; Kelty Apperson (Clarkson Cup Winner, Hockey) , Julie Taylor (Amazing Race Canada), Shelby Turner (X-Games Competitor, Motocross), Adrienne Gomes (Team Canada, Mountain Running), Kacie Bosch (Gonzaga and Pronghorns Basketball), Jessie Haughian (Ranked 7th Globally, Curling), Amanda Riddell (3x Canadian Record Holder, Powerlifting), Brandi Merritt (Team Canada Competitor and Coach, Taekwon-Do) and Rana Koopmans (Canadian Champion, Barrel Racing).
The afternoon began with introductions and ice breakers, providing the girls the opportunity to meet and get to know their ambassador and the other girls in their group.
Next, the girls went through different active stations, allowing them to try something new! These stations included; Yoga (Unite YQL), Throwing (U of L Pronghorn Athletics), Kickboxing (Canadian Martial Arts Centre), Physical Literacy (Be Fit For Life) and Fitness Testing (ASDC-SW).
After all that fun, it was snack time, followed by an inspiring Q&A session with ambassadors, allowing the girls to ask questions and ambassadors to share their messages of empowerment.
To finish the afternoon session everyone participated in a dance session with professional dancer, Tessa Tamura, where everyone got to strut their stuff and learn some moves.
The day wrapped up with an autograph session and we hope the girls left the event feeling empowered!
We had an amazing group of volunteers with us that allowed the event to run smoothly.
