JANUARY SPORT EVENT PREVIEW
Lethbridge is home to grassroots competitions to national-level sport events. While the Hurricanes, Pronghorns, and Kodiaks draw well-deserved attention, many other local organizations also host events worth taking in. Each month, we highlight some of the upcoming grassroots sport events you won’t want to miss. Here’s what’s happening in Lethbridge this December:
Hurricanes Holiday Hustle - January 2nd - 4th.
A New Year and a new event for Lethbridge. Brought to you by LMHA and Lethbridge Hurricanes, teams from U11AA, U11-1, U13-1, and U13-2 divisions will face off at Cavendish Farms Centre — and admission is FREE for all spectators. Make sure to check out the on-site youth vendor market, featuring handcrafted and homegrown products from talented local makers aged 17 and under.
Iron Man Archery Event - January 17th & 18th.
First held in 1992, the Lethbridge Bowbenders Ironman Archery Event is a true test of skill, stamina, and focus. Over two days, participants take on a challenging course featuring both 3D and traditional targets, shooting a high volume of arrows that push both physical and mental limits. A great event for archers and spectators alike. Spectators get free entry.
Kodiak teams in action - January 16th & 17th.
Three different sports, six matches, over two days. The Kodiak volleyball teams take to the court on Friday, 16th at 6 pm and 8 pm to face the Ambrose Lions. Saturday starts with the futsal teams facing the Medicine Hat Rattlers; the games begin at 12 pm and 1:30 pm. Saturday evening sees the basketball teams taking on the Ambrose Lions at 6 pm and 8 pm.
Lethbridge Cyclone Classic - January 30th - February 1st.
The Lethbridge girls hockey team welcomes U11, U15-1, U15-2, and U18-2 teams to take part in the Cyclone Classic. The action will take place at the Cavendish Farms Centre Ice Arena, and spectators can watch all the action for FREE.
