December Sport Event Preview

Lethbridge is home to grassroots competitions to national-level sport events. While the Hurricanes, Pronghorns, and Kodiaks draw well-deserved attention, many other local organizations also host events worth taking in. Each month, we highlight some of the upcoming grassroots sport events you won’t want to miss. Here’s what’s happening in Lethbridge this December:

Chinook Cup (Boys’ weekend) - Soccer December 5th - 7th

This popular non-boarded event brings forty-two teams to the Servus Sports Centre. The event will see teams form U10 through to U17 playing over the three days of competition. Tickets for the event can be purchased on the day: Day pass $8/ Weekend pass $10. Senior weekend pass $5, under-18s entry is FREE.

Lethbridge Wrestling Mega Tournament - December 5th - 6th

The LCI Green & Gold tournament and the Pronghorn Invitational will both take place at the University of Lethbridge Co-op Centre for Sport & Wellness, creating one mega event. The High School event is on Friday from 3 pm until 6 pm. Saturday at 9 am, the University-aged events start and will be followed by the Elementary/Junior High events from 1 pm. This event is FREE for all spectators.

Pronghorn Wrestling Duals Meet - December 5th

The Saskatchewan Huskies are coming to the Co-op Centre for Sport & Wellness to face off against the Pronghorns Wrestling team! Expect fast-paced, high-energy matchups as wrestlers go head-to-head by weight class in this exciting team-format event. FREE admission for all.

Lethbridge Hurricanes Home Schedule - December

The Hurricanes have six home games at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena during December.

• Wednesday 3rd @ 7pm vs Red Deer Rebels
• Friday 5th @ 7pm vs Wenatchee Wild (Canadian Tire Toque and Teddy Toss)
• Saturday 6th @ 6pm vs Calgary Hitmen (Post-game skate with Santa and Mrs Claus)
• Tuesday 16th @ 7pm vs Edmonton Oil Kings
• Saturday 27th @ 6pm vs Medicine Hat Tigers (Post-game paint the ice night)
• Tuesday 30th @ 7pm vs Edmonton Oil Kings
