October Sport Event Preview
Lethbridge is home to a wide variety of sport events, from grassroots competitions to national-level games. While teams like the Hurricanes, Pronghorns, and Kodiaks draw well-deserved attention with their dedicated fan bases, there are many other local organizations hosting events that showcase the passion and talent in our community. Each month, we’ll highlight some of the upcoming grassroots sport events you won’t want to miss. Here is a preview of the sport events happening in Lethbridge in October:
- LDGA Fall Classic Disc Golf - The finale of the Cold Garden Cup Tour takes place at Nicholas Sheran Disc Golf course on Saturday and Sunday, October 4th and 5th. With the Provincial title for each category up for grabs for the winners of this event, the action will be intense. There is no charge for spectators.
- Double header - Horns soccer and rugby - The University of Lethbridge Pronghorn’s are hosting a double-header at the Community Stadium on October 4th. The women’s soccer team plays the MacEwan Griffins, with kick-off at 2:15 pm. This is followed by the women’s rugby team playing the Alberta Pandas, with their game starting at 5:00 pm.
- Rumble in the Cage - Canada's longest-running MMA promotion is back in the Servus Sports Centre on Saturday, October 4th. With twenty bouts scheduled to take place, the action will be non-stop throughout the evening.
- Iron Core Arm Wrestling - The annual Iron Core wrestling league event brings top athletes from Western Canada and the USA to compete for championship belts. The event takes place at The Place Arcade Bar on October 11th, and entry for spectators is FREE.
- Horse racing, final meeting of the season - The final day of horse racing for 2025 takes place at the Rocky Mountain Race Track on Thanksgiving Day, Monday, October 13th. The first race gets underway at 1:00 pm, and there are plenty of family activities for everyone to enjoy. Entry is FREE for all spectators.
- LMHA Logan Boulet Memorial Tournament - Hockey action takes place over the October 17th to 19th weekend as top U17AAA teams come together to remember Logan Boulet. The Green Shirt Day event, in support of organ donation awareness and registration in Canada, will take place at the Cavendish Farms Centre, Lethbridge.
- ACAC Soccer Championships - The Lethbridge Polytechnic is hosting the ACAC 2025 Soccer Championships at the Comets Stadium in Raymond from October 24th to 26th. The Polytechnic won the women’s ACAC Championship in 1994 and the men's in 2019. With twelve matches scheduled for the weekend, there will be plenty of action to enjoy.
- LPSA One-Disc Wonder Tournament - Players use the same disc to complete two rounds of 18 holes at the LPSA disc golf course on Saturday, October 25th. With FREE admission for spectators to watch this fun tournament, the players will need to adapt their game to using just one disc to complete 36 holes.
