Hosting a sport event can feel like a big undertaking, especially if it’s your organization’s first time, or if you’re working with a volunteer committee. The Lethbridge Sport Council helps make the process more manageable by providing guidance, connections, and local knowledge at every stage.
Whether you’re considering submitting a bid or are already planning an event, we can help you navigate the details that turn a good idea into a successful event.
Bidding Support
We work with local sport organizations to strengthen bids for tournaments, championships, and other sport events. Our role is to help you showcase Lethbridge as a welcoming, capable host community.
Bidding support may include:
Guidance on the bid process and timelines
Letters of support and community context
Information on local facilities and amenities
STEAM reports to project economic impact
Coordination with Tourism Lethbridge and other partners

Hosting Support
Once an event is awarded, we continue to support host organizations as they move into planning and delivery. Our goal is to help you access local resources, reduce barriers, and focus on delivering a great experience for participants, spectators, and volunteers.
Hosting support may include:
Connecting you with local service providers and vendors
Helping identify volunteer, legacy, or community engagement opportunities
Acting as a connector between your organization and local partners
Local Assets & Resources
To support event hosts, we are building a collection of local asset lists to make planning easier and more efficient. These resources highlight businesses and services commonly used by sport event organizers, including:
Accommodations
Restaurants and food services
Printers and signage providers
Florists, caterers, and event suppliers
Other local services that support successful events
These lists are intended as a starting point to help host organizations quickly identify local options and keep event dollars in the community.
