Lethbridge Vipers Football Gaining Momentum
The Lethbridge Vipers are working tirelessly to bring a Canadian Junior Football League franchise to our city. Making a huge move to improve football culture, the Vipers have gained some amazing support.
2-time Grey Cup Champion and 4-time CFL sack leader Charleston Hughes has been added as the Vipers newest board member. Mr. Hughes bring a vast amount of experience in the sport, but also brings his passion for developing players from all levels of football. The Saginaw Michigan native has spent time with the Calgary Stampeders, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and currently the Toronto Argonauts.
Together, the Vipers are building a partnership to also help and support Indigenous youth in sport, as well as education. “This is a huge step for the Lethbridge Vipers in becoming the newest franchise in the CJFL” said Anthony Parker, founder of the Vipers. “Mr. Hughes’s knowledge and love of the game is a big win for not only Southern Alberta, but for anyone who wants to follow their football dreams. The Vipers have always been about supporting and developing all levels of football.”
The Vipers are co-sponsoring the University of Calgary Skills Camp this weekend with the South Knights. The University of Calgary Dino’s coaching staff is coming to Lethbridge to teach the future stars. The event is on Saturday, June 19th at the University of Lethbridge Stadium.
