Thursday, December 4th will be a day filled with distinction and diversity as the community comes together to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD). Recognition of this day aims to increase awareness and understanding of persons with disabilities and the issues that impact their lives.
Taking place at ENMAX centre from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., this two-part celebration will highlight the very best in accessible sporting in Lethbridge and surrounding area.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., attendees can enjoy sporting “try-its”, vendor booths and guest speakers which will focus on exploring accessible sport.
That evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the best of our city will be recognized during the third annual Lethbridge Inclusion Awards. These awards recognize businesses, individuals and community groups who make Lethbridge a more welcoming and inclusive place for those with disabilities. The event’s first and second years were an immense success, garnering an attendance of nearly 100 people.
The evening event will also showcase a locally made documentary focused on inclusion through “Art for Social Change” research that was conducted at the University of Lethbridge.
Both events are free to attend.
